Let us start with promotional items. It is nice when you buy something and give it away to your employees. Such campaigns do work on conditions that your gifts are not chip ones. Employees understand when you are ready to spend on them and when you are not. It is easily seen. And cheap gifts will make the situation worse. Try to put yourself in their shoes and you will understand everything.
As for sales training, this solution is better. People like it to study and to master their professional skills. There is hardly a person who wouldn’t be interested in attending courses or other interesting classes. It is more expensive but people will like it. As for negative sides, there are always those who won’t attend classes and who will play truant. But you will have to pay for them, anyway.
Both approaches have pros and cons. Try to combine them and it will be really useful.
